Comprehensive Virus Protection

Threats do not always come from the outside. The firewall also checks for internally tainted email to prevent the spread of viruses that don’t access the email gateway.

Proven Spam Protection Email Encryption

Barracuda is the industry leader in spam protection for businesses. The Barracuda Spam Firewall leverages Barracuda Central to identify email from known spammers and determine whether domains embedded within emails lead to known spam or malware sites. It also protects against attempts to embed text inside images with the intent of hiding content from traditional spam filters.

Outbound Filtering and Data Leak Protection

Outbound filtering prevents your organization from being put on spam block lists and prevents sensitive data from leaving your organization. It lets administrators enforce content policies for data loss prevention (DLP) and to meet other content standards in outgoing email. You can use predefined filters and set up custom policies to easily detect sensitive data in emails and either block it or automatically encrypt it.

Not all data leakages are intentional. Employees can inadvertently cause internal systems to become a source for botnet spam. One of the defense layers is to stop outbound spam and check all outbound emails for viruses.

During email server outages, the email for all mail servers is visible through the Cloud Protection Layer. From the message log, you can see the status of all spooled emails and whether the mail has been re-delivered.

Email Spooling to the Cloud

The Barracuda Spam Firewall ensures that email can still be delivered even during email server failures or loss of connectivity. In the event of on-premises disruptions, email can be spooled in the Cloud Protection Layer for up to 96 hours.

Alternate Email Delivery

If emails cannot be delivered to their primary destination, it is possible to re-route them to a backup destination. With the Barracuda Message Archiver, you can maintain a permanent, searchable backup of all emails. This ensures that no message is lost.
